Blackberry is one of the leading companies of smart phones on the market today. For example, you can be stuck in traffic and have the ability to see how much traffic there is and if there is a better route you can take to save time. The other option would be to visit sites like handango.com which allow you to purchase apps and receive an OTA (Over the air) download link. They will either email or text message a link for you to download the app. These types of sites also allow you to buy themes, ringtones and images.
The third option is to visit the App producer's website for a direct download. One my favorite apps is WhatsApp and their app can only be downloaded through their website. If you do some research and find an app you like but cannot find it on App World you may want to visit the producer's website for a download link.
